2015 was another great year plumbers and we wanted to share with you the most interesting facts that relate to plumbing.
- In the USA, 757 billion gallons of water have been saved due to WaterSense rated, High Efficiency Toilets (HETs) since 2006
- When a leaky faucet drips at a rate of one drip per second, it can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water every year. That’s enough to fill a truck!
- $14.2 billion dollars of consumer savings in water and energy bills due to WaterSense products
- The average family of four could save at least 16,000 gallons of water a year and more than $100 in water bills by updating to a 1.6 gpf model toilet; 1.28 gpf rated toilets would save an additional 650 gallons per year
- If we did not change from 3.5 gallon toilets in 1992 we would be using 437 billion more gallons of water per year
- EPA estimates that if every household in the US converted to WaterSense products, our nation could save 3 trillion gallons of water and over $17 billion dollars annually.
- In 2013, the USA achieved a water savings of over 90,000 gallons per minute with new High Efficiency Toilets (HET)

- Depending on how many people are living in your home, you’ll need to have your septic tank pumped every five to seven years.
- With 8 million pounds of popcorn, 28 million pounds of potato chips, and 1 billion chicken wings consumed every year during the super bowl, it’s no wonder that the toilet is flushed more times during half time than any other time of the year.
- On October 25, 1760, King George II of Great Britain died when he fell off the toilet.
- Three out of four people prefer their toilet paper to have the flap in the front, according to a recent study. (The study cost more than $100,000. Was it really worth it?)
